This is the living room shot from the front door. Those pillows represent the couch.

Okay, so there’s the living room. The length of that wood area is 51″ from inside to inside and roughly 55″ from outside to outside. The length of that entire wall, from end of wood counter-back to wall corner is roughly 9′. I’d like to put a couch where the pillows are, and either a chair in that corner, or possibly a second smaller couch completing an “L” in either direction.

QUESTION: Can you put a couch up against a heater unit? Even in LA, I imagine I’ll use it eventually. If you can, that wall is 62″. 40″ to the left of the heater, and 5″ on the other side. I’m also wondering, depending on what I find, if I can get away with just having the coffee table from Welnerbane Yard, or if I’ll need some sort of side table for this couch situation.

Finally, there’s a guy who’s got a cheap Asian-looking rug and I’m gonna go see it today. That would go here, likely in the middle of the room.

This is the living room again, illustrating where the television and either table or entertainment center (possibly good use of space for DVD storage and whatnot) will probably go. See where the coffee table and office chair are now? I’m thinking just a smidge to the left of that. The back wall is roughly 128″ wide (just over 10′) if you leave space to open the door all the way, which I’d like to do.

Besides laundry, this obviously doesn’t show much. But, that’s the wall I’d like to put a bookcase on. In fact, a book or two might even end up on it. But mostly, I like the idea of having a little display-storage. So it doesn’t need to be a deep bookcase, but at least one tall shelf would be nice, since I have some tall books. The wall is 26″ from corner to corner of molding and 8′ tall. I’m down to fill that whole space if there are bookshelves that tall.

Here’s the kitchen. I’d like to put a square table and 2 chairs in that corner. It’d be nice if the table were small enough that I could occasionally slide it over a little, grab 2 folding chairs, and play cards or something. But also big enough to play cards on…

The back wall, from corner to fridge is roughly 63″. The side wall, from the beginning of the tile section to the back is 87″. That said, there are two things to consider. 1) Once the counter starts, there’s exactly 5′ between it and that side wall. 2) I’m considering potentially putting my epic business desk sort of half-on carpet and tile, next to the A/C. It’s a little weird, but it would save room in my actual room and… well I’ll explain that when we get to it.

This is my kitchen. I am going to try to convince Jake to install a compost-o-carb thing in one of the sinks. Not sure how that works. Jason says I can probably find one, and find out how much it is to install something like that (since there’s power right there obviously) and then ask him to split it with me. I think that would be nice. Let me know if you think it’s more complicated than that. Also, I would like a MICROWAVE, TOASTER, and possibly a JUICER if I can find a really cheap one at a garage sale. I like juice, even vegetable juice, and I had a lot of it on Hell’s Kitchen… maybe that would help me eat healthier? Maybe it’s a waste of time and pulp? Who knows.

This is a continuation of my room to the right, toward the door

Alright! Here’s my room. Now the corner I’m not really showing you is unimportant because my queen bed will be there. It is 60″ by 80″, which means that on that back wall with the window, we have just about 54″ left from bed to corner. The wall on the right is 88″ to the molding. Now there are a couple options here.

1) If I put a rather wide dresser all the way up against the door, I could split that wall with previously aforementioned “epic business desk”. If I got some sort of corner desk, that maybe wrapped 2 feet or so around that corner toward the bed, then I might still have room for an end table. If I went with this configuration, I’d likely have that end table be a decent-looking 2-drawer filing cabinet. That way all of my business stuff would be in one place, but I can still put a lamp and alarm clock on top of it.

2) If I end up putting this desk in the living room near the air conditioner, then I have all the space in the world for a dresser & end table or whatever else.

3) I could always try to find some sort of very tall dresser with drawers that go all the way up… then it could be skinnier. Not sure.

For some reason it seems unlikely to me that I’ll be hanging things that low. I think I’d rather have a bunch of cubby-holes or something… Like space for all my future shoes or… I don’t know. Something more useful than a hanging bar. The space is 35″ tall, 35″ wide, and 17″ deep.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, ends the furniture tour of my new place. Next stop, shopping.

Great job Dicky! The fact that you like Wal-Mart is completely irrelevant to my life! The stupid part is I can’t even blame him. In fact I guarantee I’ve liked something idiotic and Facebook has decided upon its relevancy for all of my friends. For that, I apologize deeply.

April Fools is Shirtless Brooks’ favorite holiday. I hope nobody feeds me anything gross today.

Basically you’re some sort of test subject in a box. You hover around avoiding all of the dangerous obstacles while collecting as many blue and red orbs as you can. It get harder and harder the longer you survive.
